Inositol is found in foods mainly as a component of fibre called phytic acid and it is only as a result of bacterial action in the gut that inosiltol is released for absorption. Inositol is beneficial for the liver as it promotes encourages removal of fat in the bile. It is also necessary for nerve, brain and muscle function.
